Join us for a Coffee Course

A group of students sit outside at a cafe and have coffee. If you are interested in teaching and learning with technology, and would like to try new things in your courses, join us for a Coffee Course! It’s a easy short course that you can do in your own time.

How does it work?

The Coffee Course is equivalent to a one-hour or two-hour training session, but broken down into small pieces. Grab a cup of coffee (or tea) while you do a short reading or activity at morning tea time, at your own desk. It should take about 15 -20 minutes a day, over one week. You just need to subscribe to this blog to get the updates as they happen, and join in at any time.

What can I learn?

Feel free to participate in just those Coffee Courses which interest you. The courses are designed to give you ideas on how to apply new strategies for your own teaching. Check out growing list of Coffee Courses here.

Please suggest additional topics that interest you as well. Just leave a comment on this post with your ideas.

How do I sign up?

All you need to do is subscribe to the blog! Enter your email in the Subscribe for Updates box (scroll down to the red banner). Each day during the running of the course, you will receive an email with the prompt for the short activity for that day. (It should take about 15 minutes). It might involve watching a short video and leaving a comment or idea on the blog.

Who is running it?

This course is offered by the educational designers in the Centre for Learning and Teaching (CLT) who support academics across the university in using technology effectively in their teaching.

CLT also offers a variety of other training including self-paced online training and face-to-face sessions on campus.

Acknowledgements

Special thanks and acknowledgement goes to Sarah Thorneycroft and the Learning Innovations Hub at University of New England for developing the concept of coffee courses.
