A new espresso course!
Join us 7-9 December, 2016 for a new, shorter type of coffee course – the espresso! – to take us through to the summer break and holiday season.
This short course will explore massive open online courses, commonly known as MOOCs. Usually offered by universities in combination with an online provider, MOOCs draw tens of thousands of students on a wide range of topics, and are growing ever more common. This course is a quick introduction to the MOOC phenomena, and will discuss what MOOCs are, where they came from, and look at the different types of MOOCs. It will investigate different perspectives on the role and influence of MOOCs in higher education: do they live up to the hype?
This course will run from Wednesday, 7 December to Friday, 9 December, with 3 posts throughout this period (one per day).
- Day 1 – What are MOOCs?
- Day 2 – Types of MOOCs
- Day 3 – Perspectives on MOOCs
All are welcome
We welcome all staff, including tutors, demonstrators, professional staff, and academics at the Australian National University and beyond to join us for this final course of 2016. As a shorter course just for interest, it will not be listed on HORUS for professional development recognition for ANU staff.
