New year, new look, new courses!

Happy New Year everyone, and welcome back to another fantastic year of coffee courses! It takes a huge number of people behind the scenes to create this blog, and I’d like to thank them. First, thanks to Thao Tran for her hard work in designing and building the new design for this blog, and to Rebecca Ng for her advice, logo design, and support. Thanks to Karlene Dickens for her tireless efforts to keep the courses running smoothly, and her enthusiasm for building a really fantastic network here. And as always, thanks to Janene Harman for co-parenting the coffee courses with me.

A quick look back at 2017

We’ve been blown away by the response to our courses throughout last year. Here are a few highlights!

Upcoming courses

For our first course of the year, we’ll be looking at how student wellbeing can be fostered through teaching practices and curriculum design. Our guest facilitator will be Alex Culloden, the Wellbeing Project Coordinator from the Division of Student Life at ANU. This course will run from 22 -24 January, 2018. More information will be coming shortly, but ANU staff can sign up on HORUS now!

In February, our focus will be on deep and interactive learning, and how to foster engagement using active learning principles in your teaching practice. This course from Glen O’Grady (CHELT) and Fred Chew (CASS) will also include ways to incorporate the new Echo360 Active Learning Platform tools.

Big plans for our courses

We are developing an exciting new approach to the coffee courses, and will be developing the courses to meet a comprehensive curriculum so that participants can gain a more holistic knowledge of technology-enhanced learning and be recognised with a certificate for their participation. We are developing the details now – stay tuned! We’ll be looking for volunteers to join the pilot program early in the year.

Here’s to another great year!

  1. The new look is fantastic, I absolutely love it and I cannot wait to see what you bring this year. All the best with it, and let me know if I can assist or be involved in any way.
