First coffee course: Flipping the classroom (7-14 Sept)

You’ve heard the words, but how do you do it? Join us to learn about how to flip your classroom for just 10 minutes a day from Wednesday, 7 September – Wednesday, 14 September, 2016.

What is flipped classroom?

Flipping the classroom is a method of delivering where the traditional format of lecture / tutorial / homework is flipped – students usually watch pre-recorded lecture videos in their own time before class, and spend their time in class with the teaching staff engaging in activities, experiments, presentations, problem-based learning, or other active learning activities. This is then followed by a reflective or discussion-type activity after class.

The flipped classroom model usually (but not always) incorporates technologies to facilitate the delivery, such as pre-recorded videos or lectures, apps or live feedback tools for in the classroom, and forums or interactive discussions after class.

This coffee course will cover the basics of how to develop a flipped classroom model for your teaching, with practical ideas, and strategies on how to effectively flip your course. It will include examples from across ANU and other Australian universities from different disciplines, and you can connect with other teachers.

When does the course run?
