Twitter is an social media platform which allows its users to write short posts known as tweets, amass followers, follow relevant accounts, ‘like’ content, and follow and contribute to discussions using hashtags.
The open nature of Twitter as a platform affords many opportunities for teaching and learning. Twitter can provide a platform for learners to be able to concisely express their ideas, engage critically with concepts, and empower students to actively engage with both learners from within their learning cohort, experts working in their field, and the broader community.
In this coffee course, we will explore practical strategies and considerations when deploying Twitter for teaching and learning in higher education, discuss how Twitter can support pedagogical approaches, and learn how to navigate the inherent pitfalls of teaching on social media.
Dates
Tuesday, 8 October to Friday, 11 October 2019. There will be 4 blog posts, one per day, that will take about 15-20 minutes to work through. You are welcome to work through the course at your own pace, any time.

We welcome all staff, including tutors, demonstrators, professional staff, and academics at the Australian National University and beyond to join us for this course.
How to participate
The entire course will be conducted online, at your own pace through this blog. We encourage you to make a cup of coffee or tea and work through the material. Each post includes an activity or discussion question for you to respond to in the comment section of the blog.
